Skyrim VR... Day 35

As you do when you go back to town, I turned in a bunch of quests, got a few new ones, offloaded some of my loot on the vendors, and tried in vain to search for a new assistant for his-wizardyship.

I also thought about catching some shut-eye in my new digs, but I remembered what happened last time I went to sleep on this gods forsaken island and decided to continue with the insomnia... hopefully it doesn't catch up with me.

Not at all well rested, I headed back into the wilderness to follow up on a lead for this new assistant... and ran into one of those jellyfish cows.

Ded Cow

A quick arrow took it down. And then the bandit standing near it. And then the other bandit that came running over to see what happened to her mate. And then the third bandit that had heard the commotion. And, um, then I went over to loot my kill and there was an old hunter standing there next to the dead netch.

He spoke about how a warrior was prepared for anything, and that they will sing songs about the bravery of him and his fallen comrades.

And that's when I realised I had done a terrible thing.

These weren't bandits (though they dressed like them), and I had just killed 3/4 of an innocent hunting party.

And then, with a heavy heart, I realised that this man was a witness to my terrible crime.

So I agreed with him, "That they will, old man." And drew my bow.

Sorry

I think he knew today was his final hunt. He stood there and accepted his fate proudly. I shall call him Ned, and since I'm technically a bard, I shall make up a song about his noble bravery.

Despite the bright skies, a heavy heart put a damper on the day, and the next fellow did nothing to improve it.

New Tea Maker

But at least the wizard has a new Chief Tea Maker, and this totally sus dude has a new job. He seemed pretty eager to get out of Raven Rock, so perhaps he also is running from the ghosts of a dead hunting party?

The next terrible mistake I had to remedy, was that dig site. Having got the entire dig team killed by Draugr, I supposed I should go clean the place out so their bodies could be recovered and returned to their families.

It was carnage in there, the poor diggers had no hope.

Ded Diggers

After cleaning out the undead, I opened the new section and spied a pair of shiny boots on display. Assuming they would be a trap, I thought to disarm it, just in case, but nothing happened.

New Boots

The archaeologist thanked me for clearing the place out, then asked me for some more coin so he could hire a new team of diggers.

Archaeologist

In for a penny I guess. We'll see if he gets the next team killed too.

I wandered off to the northeast, toward the dwarf ruins that had stumped me the other day, but that switch still wouldn't activate so I continued on and into the night.

Northern Lights

In the gloom, I got attacked by a baby seal. I didn't have a club, and it wasn't really a baby... so I clubbed that adult seal with my sword instead while Sofia (again) made that joke about "Did you call me fat? Well, at least I'm not a hor...... ker. Yes I did say horker."

Horker

We took its tusks and meat and continued along the beach when I spied another bandit sneaking about.

Forgetting all about the incident earlier in the day, stuck an arrow in his neck.

He was not best pleased, but he didn't fight me. Instead he rambled about how he had been evicted from his guard house by some reiklings, and now they were camping like bandits down on the beach, hence the um, misunderstanding.

Not Bandit

I loll'd and agreed to take care of their reikling problem, but they insisted that they accompany me (something about regaining their honour).

So we wandered up the hill and I took care of their reikling problem, carefully, using my sword, so none of the others would accidentally catch an arrow and suddenly stop liking me.

Once they had reclaimed the hall, I headed back out and did some more scouting, and found a reikling hideout down on the beach. I guess that's where these little monsters have been coming from.

Reiklings

They were surprised to see me at first, but then they were all dead and I set to looting the creepy place.

Creepy Hideout

I found a vuvuzela, and kind of wished you could play it in VR... you can hold it up toward your mouth, but well, it doesn't make noise, and if it gets too close the end disappears... but still, it's fun interacting with objects.

Vuvuzela

The little dudes had an ice sculpture horse hooked up to a carriage that they were worshipping, it was kind of, well, somewhere between cute and creepy. Probably a bit of both.

Ice Horse

It was too big to carry, but I grabbed a souvenir or two.

Dibella Statue

Maybe a statue of Dibella would look better in my new house rather than all those skulls?
