Skyrim VR... Day 41

A bunch of cheeky spellcasting cultists had set up shop in this deep dungeon. I call them cheeky because they seemed to see me while I was doing my sneaky-sneak. They got off some lucky spells to the extent that I was frantically trying to remember the gesture to heal myself and panicking a little when my shout gestures didn't work!

My bad, the Skyrim window wasn't focused on the desktop (ModOrganiser was on top), whoops.

They seem capable enough to have slain a dragon and hung it up as a trophy/icon to worship? Probably need to keep an eye on these guys. There was also a number of Draugr that were happy with them living in the lair, but apparently as soon as I wandered by it was all "Grr, Arg."

Dragon Skellington

Also got to pick up another word to yell at folks.

New Shout

After my recent holiday and playing some disc golf with my fam...

Disc Golf!

Frea, for all the tough Skaal attitude, took one look at this switch and was like, 'no, you can do the honours'.

She had a point, it looked rather unsafe so I used my extra reach in VR to pull it from further afield than right next to the bitey things... and I didn't get bitten. I think they might just be statues.

Bitey Switch

We headed deeper into the lair, apparently this Miraak guy has collected a number of trophies to hang on his wall.

Dragon Head

Saw this large staircase room and expected the worst... and despite sneaking carefully up the right hand side, got ambushed by a bunch of skeletons and Draugr, not to mention boulders and flames too.

Sus Staircase

Dafaq is this a statue of? Looks like some kind of beholder type thing. I hope I never meet one that isn't a statue.

Creepy Statue

My destination was finally in sight, sitting on a dias surrounded by flames.

Flaming Room

Luckily, I seem to be flame retardant, and wandered casually up to the book to give it a quick peruse.

Burn After Reading

Now, having done this gig a few times, I knew I'd be sucked into the eldritch library dimension... but this time I was not ready for what was waiting for me.

Eldritch Library

I was like, "Oh, shi---" and tried pulling out my bow, but I couldn't. Tried shouting, but I couldn't. Tried going for my sword, but I couldn't.

Miraak Gloating

Instead Miraak gave me the bad-guy lecture detailing all his plans about how he was going to invade my world and destroy all the things. You know, gloating, because he couldn't possibly lose. Standard hubris set piece.

Eldritch Bouncer

Then he had his mindflayer bouncers toss me back out to my world, so I could undo all his hard work. Should'a killed me while he had the chance.

Gratuitous Night Sky

This is when my VR decided to glitch out and change the floor level every few seconds, like I was getting shorter and taller while standing tall.

It was a little weird.

A reboot of the Quest fixed it, and I reconnected into VR without even having to exit/restart Skyrim!

Waterfall

Frea was like 'come back to my village, you need to talk to my dad', so I followed her back to Skaal village.

Skaal Village

And her dad sent me back out to yell at a stone.

And out popped one of those eldritch horrors from the library dimension, so we stuffed it with arrows, and freed the villagers.

Wind Stone

They thanked me and returned to the village so I could sell a ton of my junk to them - how good of them!

Thankful Villagers

I sent Lydia home and strong-armed Frea into following me around for a while, so she said farewell to her dad and we went to shout at some more stones.

Frea and her father

It wasn't a great decision on her part, the next stone we yelled at was an ambush. It was crawling with reiklings along with the big ugly eldritch dude, and if that wasn't enough, a dragon decided to get in on the action.

Dragon Skeleton

We prevailed, but Frea did end up wearing a lot of spears.

Frea pincushion

I also just noticed I gave Frea the same armour as Sofia, so we'll have to go clothes shopping and do some enchanting next session... what a shame.
