Skyrim VR... Day 29

Nearby there was a shrine to some random deity. I clicked it, because, that’s kinda what you do… though tbh even in a fantasy game where gods are real I still don’t usually get the whole religion thing.

Shrine

So thanks whoever you are for your random blessing that gave me +10 to my speech skill.

Continued wandering up the road, and there were some bandits raiding a giant camp. I let that resolve itself then cleaned up the injured giant and mammoth and looted all the things.

Wandering up the road further, AARGH SPIDER!

It kind of blended with the snow, so wasn’t expecting that.

Wandering up the road further, AARGH TROLL!

It ALSO kind of blended with the snow, so wasn’t expecting that EITHER.

Then I found myself at a ruin that I thought I’d go check out, and heard the dreaded “huh?” from a bandit lookout who had obviously spotted me.

Then a dozen of them charged out and made quick work of me.

Soooooo. I prayed to the random deity.

This time there were no bandits at the giant, so I just killed him and the mammoth solo.

This time there was no spider or troll, but there was an ice wisp thingy.

And then I got to the ruin and SAVE.

Then I tried sneaking up to it, and took out a couple of guards before they all charged out and made quick work of me.

A few more attempts told me I was going to have to rethink my strategy, so I waited until it was dark and then it was too dark to find the ruin. I wandered around bumping into trees and cliffs until I found something ruin-like.

This time they were in trouble… can’t see an archery elf with +79 sneak skill, boots that grant a further 20%, and that skill which makes you harder to detect when motionless.

Once I was sure they were dead, I broke out the torch so I could loot the corpses, restocked my arrows, and headed in to clear the buildings.

Apparently the bandits were mining iron in there, so I got myself a ton of ore and then loaded it onto one of my followers to carry, since I’m forever hitting the 300lb limit.

Success At Last

It was almost dawn by the time we had finished raiding the place.

Headed up the road and… huh. Another bandit fortress? Literally within line of sight of the previous one?

There's Two Of Them

So given it was dawn and I had so much trouble with the last fortress during the day time and this one was even more well defended, I decided to bypass it and investigate the other thing nearby on the map.

Apparently I missed all the fun. There were a bunch of dead vampires and dead priests(?) to loot.

Carnage

So I looted them, and it was still morning when I got back to the bandit fortress and pondered if I was going to wait all day or not.

TL;DW

I saved. Good start right?

Then fired off an arrow and one-shotted that dude up on the rampart.

It feels amazing to score a crit from so far off.

The next dozen or so arrows missed, so I got swamped by angry bandits and it was time to load the game again.

That happened a couple of times before I lucked out with the agro and only pulled a third of the fortress instead of the whole fortress.

Then I saved, and snuck in to deal with the next third.

Much the same story as before… I had a few false starts until I got a more manageable amount of agro.

But we got there in the end, cleared out the fortress, the buildings and the nearby pub/roadhouse. Seems like the bandits had killed the owner and drank most of his liquor.

Bad juju.

It was night time by the time I’d finished.

Jobs Done!

Then we headed off down the road in search of our next spot of adventure.

Lucien got some fancy new elfin armour to wear too.

More Work?
