Skyrim VR... Day 12

I woke up in a town called Markath, which was an interesting town built into a cliff with waterfalls and stuff... quite a pretty destination, except when I stepped out bleary-eyed into the sunlight, I witnessed a murder in the market square.

The guards took an Officer Barbrady stance to the whole thing, nothing to see here, just a Forsworn assassin, happens all the time or something.

It didn't really sit right with me, so I started investigating. The guards told me to stop poking my nose where it didn't belong, and to let it go.

So naturally I investigated more.

Things escalated and they sent a thug to convince me otherwise, which of course meant I kicked his ass and dug my feet in even deeper.

For whatever reason I ended up going into some dwarven ruins (it didn't have anything to do with the conspiracy, but I assume there was a quest marker there that distracted me).

That place was crawling with Falmer and we had a few skirmishes, mostly the crouching bow sniping worked, but there were a couple of fights that went down to the wire and needed special application of axe.

Eventually I cleared the place, though seemed to have mistakenly triggered some dwarven automata which turned into a boss fight before I could get back out again.

Still, when I re-emerged from the caves, I had another lead to track down so I wandered into his house and he told me everything.

And when I asked why did you tell me all this, he said 'because you're not getting out of here alive'. Then his whole household jumped me. I was not expecting that, but in the end they all lay toasted at my feet.

I didn't feel too bad looting everything of value from there... I'll figure out what to do with these stolen goods later, maybe there's a fence somewhere.

So then I went back to my contact who was helping me in this investigation only to find him murdered with guards standing over him.

And they said that they were going to pin his murder on me.

So I killed them all and it said I'd killed all the witnesses so I felt like I'd gotten away with it, but when I emerged from the temple there were more guards.

They threw me in the silver mines and told me I'd be staying there for life.

Yeah right. Though I did mine some silver, so I could make jewelry when I got out.

I talked to all the criminals in there, they for the most part seemed like they belonged, but one of them was a king in exile, a puppet for the conspiracy in the town.

I didn't feel super great aligning myself with these criminals, but we had a common purpose to escape so it seemed like our paths aligned for a time.

We got out, and they gave me a real nice suit of armor for my trouble, then I let them murder their way across Markath and out into the wilderness.

So now I have to decide if I want to side with the Jarl, or with the Forsworn, or like, GTFO.

I chose GTFO for now, went back to Whiterun and bought a house and put all my stolen stuff and heavy stuff into a chest.
